Funeral services for Stella Mae Danly, 74, Mechanicsville, were held Aug. 29, 1987 at Horner Funeral Home in Mechanicsville with Jeff Cardon officiating. Pallbearers were Bud Pinter, John Payton, James Payton, Louis Payton, Marion Payton and Woodrow Payton. Honorary bearers were William Boots and Alan Weets. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Danly died Aug. 26 at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids.
The daughter of William George and Rose Maurana Bemrose, she was born Feb. 1913 in Anamosa. She attended the Oxford Mills schools. She married James Danly, Sr. in July 1957 and they resided in Mechanicsville. Mr. Danly died in 1966.
Mrs. Danley was employed by Cornell college, Mt. Vernon and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by 6 sons, John Payton, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Woodrow and Wayne Payton, both of Ft. Smith, Ark.; Marion Payton, Anamosa; James Payton, Tipton and Louis Payton, St. Joseph, Mo.; 2 daughters, Pauline Hansen, Mechanicsville and Lois Colvin, Newell; a brother, William Bemrose, Sabula, 4 sisters, Luella DeWitt, Sabula; Lyda Eacker, Clinton and Ollie Powers and Charlotte Matthieson, both of Manchester; 4 step-children, James Danly, Jr. and Marianne Dvorak, Mechanicsville; Richard Danly, Cedar Rapids and Bette Conrad, Glen Haven, Calif.; 44 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
