Funeral services for Lester L. Linn, 66, Tipton, will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 1987 at 11 a.m. at the Rochester Methodist church, with the Rev. Norman Anderson officiating. Sharon Stiff will be the organist and pallbearers are Bill Stiff, Wayne Ahrens, Paul Brewer, Harold Linn, Don Stiff and Richard Anderson. Burial will be in the Pee Dee cemetery at Springdale.

Mr. Linn died Aug. 30 at University hospitals in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The son of Earl A. and Clara H. Stiff Linn, he was born Jan. 18, 1921 near Rochester. He graduated from the Springdale schools in 1938 and attended Iowa State University. He married Betty Dumenil June 16, 1946 in Argyle.

Mr. Linn was a farmer and a member of the Cedar County Farm Bureau and Rochester United Methodist church. He was a lifetime resident of the Tipton area. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a prisoner of war.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, Tipton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Bonnie) Denman, Wheaton, Md. and Mrs. Shirley Linn, Charlotte, N.C.; a son, Harold, Tipton; 3 granddaughters, a sister, Mrs. Howard (Ione) Nielsen, Cape Coral, Fla. and 2 brothers, Marvin, Rock Island, Ill. and the Rev. Eugene, Linn Grove, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
