Funeral services for Roy L. Smith, 89, Wilton, were held Aug. 7, 1987 at the Lacock Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Aug. 4 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton.

The son of Charles and Malinda Sterrett Smith, he was born Aug. 14, 1897 in Cedar county. He married Stella Montgomery in 1936 in Minnesota. He was a farmer.

Mr. Smith is survived by 3 stepchildren, William "Bill" Montgomery, Claudene Degan and Doris Schulte, all of Davenport; several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a brother, Guy W. H. Smith, East Moline, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife Aug. 17, 1982.
