Funeral services for Glenn Hoffman, 85, West Branch, were held July 1, 1987 at the West Branch United Methodist church, with the Rev. Samuel J. Hahn officiating. Mrs. Jane Hobart was the organist and pallbearers were Bart Hoffman, Dan Hoffman, Dennis St. John, Gene Benson, Mark Hoffman and Mike Hoffman. Honorary bearers were Chet Vincent, Merrill Douglass, Sam Irey, Lawrence Rummells, C. A. Rummells, Alfred Larson and Glenn Brown. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery. The Barker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hoffman died June 28 at the Crestview Care Center, following a one month illness.
The son of L. R. and Esther Gruwell Hoffman, he was born Dec. 6, 1901 in Cedar county. He graduated from West Branch high school in 1919 and attended the University of Iowa. He married Mildred Albin Dec. 30, 1925 at Vinton.
Mr. Hoffman farmed north of West Branch for 43 years. He was a member of the West Branch United Methodist church, where he served on the board for several years. He was also a member of the West Branch school board 8 years and was a member of the Cedar county board of supervisors for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Allan, West Branch; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
