Graveside services for Dr. Douglas R. Fields, 37, were held at the Tipton Masonic cemetery May 16 with the Rev. Susan Detwiler officiating.
Dr. Fields was killed in an avalanche while skiing near Telluride, Colo. Feb. 14. He was skiing with 5 other people Feb. 14 when the skiers set off a snow slide that carried Dr. Fields over a cliff. The 4 others in the skiing party escaped unharmed.
The son of Richard and Marilyn Bolton Fields, he was born at Davenport Dec. 16, 1949. He graduated from Tipton high school with the class of 1968, from Drake University in 1972 and from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1978. He managed a Super Valu store in Mt. Pleasant for several years prior to 1975.
Dr. Fields was a chiropractor at Telluride at the time of his death.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fields, Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Cindy Van Orden, Rochester, Minn.; 2 nieces and a nephew.
