Funeral services for John Steffen Jr, 80, will be held at the Wilton United Methodist church today (May 22) with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers are Brett, Gerald and Craig Petersen, John Nelson, Stan Sawvell and Rocky Wagaman.

Mr. Steffen died at the Americana Nursing Home, Davenport, May 19.

The son of John and Minnie Bartholomew Steffen, he was born at Bennett Feb. 14, 1905. He was married to Velma Herbst at Rock Island, Ill. Jan. 7, 1932.

Mr. Steffen retired from farming in 1953 and owned and operated an implement dealership in Wyoming. He later owned and operated the Texaco Service Station in Wilton, retiring in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Donald, Wilton; 2 daughters, Mrs. John (Darlene) Nelson, Fort Collins, Colo. and Mrs. Gerald (Irene) Petersen, Wilton, a brother, Ralph, Davenport; 3 sisters, Rose Handfeldt, Minnie Siefert and Mrs. Fred (Viola) Lange, all of Davenport; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
