Funeral services for Edward J. Kober, 67, West Branch, were held at Iowa City Sept. 1 with the Rev. Robert Pfeil officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens, Iowa City. Mr. Kober died at his home in West Branch Aug. 29.

The son of Henry and Lena Miller Kober, he was born in Rolfe Feb. 4, 1917. He was married to Marie Ziebler in Lizard Sept. 30, 1938. He owned the Kober Construction company, retiring in 1976. The couple lived in Florida for many years, returning to the West Branch area in July.

He was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran church, Iowa City, where he was a trustee and usher.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Yvonne) Kahler, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Bill (Virginia) Alston, El Toro, Calif. and Mrs. Dennis (Annette) Walker, West Branch; 2 sons, Loren, West Branch and Leland, West Liberty; 19 grandchildren, a great-grandson and 5 sisters. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, a brother and a grandson.
