September 5, 1984 - The Tipton Conservative

Final rites for Mrs. Donald (Etta B.) Armstrong Sr. 86, were held at the United Methodist church Sept. 4 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn L. Eaton, James Hostler, Lee Sterner, John E. Achey, Ralph Wilke and Michael Wagner. Patty Niehaus was organist. Mr. and Mrs. James Moore were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Armstrong died at her home in Tipton Aug. 31.

The daughter of Harman and Emma Dewey Willy, she was born at Bennett March 10, 1898 and graduated from Tipton high school in 1916. She was married to Donald C. Armstrong Sr. in Cedar Rapids Dec. 23, 1919. A lifelong resident of the Tipton area she was a member of the Methodist church, the United Methodist Women, Open Prairie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Past Matrons of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Federated Study club and the Woman's club.

She is survived by 2 sons, Doanld C., Tipton and Carl R., Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Carole) Turnquist, Des Moines; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 6 sisters and a brother.
