Funeral services for Effie Mae Trierweiler, 78, who had operated Effie's Tavern in Stanwood for many years, were held at the Chapman Funeral home, Clarence, Sept. 1 with the Rev. Sue Wintz officiating. Burial was in the Wilson cemetery at Independence.

Mrs. Trierweiler died Aug. 30. Her body was discovered in the rear sleeping quarters shortly before noon in the rear of the tavern she operated when it was discovered that she was not in the tavern. She apparently died of a heart attack sometime during the night or early morning.

The daughter of Jay O. and Zora Mae King Eddy, she was born at Independence Sept. 9, 1905 and was married to Peter L. Trierweiler Feb. 2, 1926. He died in 1936. A short time later she came to Stanwood where she operated the tavern.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Joy Ann Rosenbaum, Urbandale and Gladys E. Albaugh, Mechanicsville; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, J. E. Eddy, Independence and Everett M. Eddy, McAllen, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and 2 grandsons.
