Funeral services for Walter (Wally) Nelsen, 79, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral Home Aug. 24 with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in Red Oak cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Miller, Carl Ehresman, Herman Helmold, Bob Meinholdt, Norman Neilsen and Edward Carson. The Rev. Marshall was vocalist and Betty Vitense was organist.

Mr. Nelsen died at his home in Tipton Aug. 21.

The son of Henry and Anna Rasmussen Nelsen, he was born in Langelands, Herred, Denmark June 3, 1905. He was educated in the Racine, Wis. schools and was married to Edna M. Hartley at Rock Island, Ill. in January, 1934.

A 50 year resident of the Tipton community he was last employed by the city of Tipton street and sanitation department for 15 years, retiring in 1968.

He was a member of First United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, Mrs. Larry (Betty) Coonrod, Mesa, Ariz., Mrs. Jim (Lola) Hudson, Mechanicsville and Mrs. John (Pat) Sterner, Mt. Vernon, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Beverly) Knight, Toledo, Wash. He was preceded in death by a brother.
