Funeral services for Mrs. John F. (Clara) Maher, 76, Bettendorf, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, West Liberty, Feb. 29 with the Rev. John Morrisey officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Maher, a former Cedar county resident, died at her home in Bettendorf Feb. 25.

The daughter of William and Wilhelmina Schneider DeMean, she was born in Palo Alto county Oct. 9, 1907. She attended Cedar county schools. She was married to John F. Maher in West Liberty April 25, 1923. He died May 25, 1953.

The couple farmed in both Cedar and Muscatine counties.

Mrs. Maher moved to Bettendorf in 1955. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes church in Bettendorf and the Altar and Rosary society of St. Joseph's Catholic church.

She is survived by 3 sons, John, Cedar Rapids; Kenneth, West Branch and Duane, Lowell, WA; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Wilma C.) Nelson, Iowa City; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and 3 sisters, Anna Osborn, West Liberty; Hazel Grothwhol, West Branch and Minnie Jensen, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, 3 brothers and 3 grandchildren.
