Funeral services for Howard Packer, 78, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence. Burial will be in the Clarence cemetery.

Mr. Packer died Monday at the Clarence Nursing home. He was born in Chariton where he married Myrtle Fuller in 1918. He was a retired baker.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Andre and Mrs. Freeman (Phyllis) Wendt, both of Clarence; a son, Marvin, Omaha, Neb., 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Faye Allen, Chariton.
