13 February 1975 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Raymond L. Armstrong, 61, retired farmer, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Jan. 30 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald Armstrong, Jr., Ronald Armstrong, Darrell Keller, John E. Achey, Edward Ketelsen and Richard Gade. Mrs. Kenneth Gould was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Linn and Mr. and Mrs. John Schott were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Armstrong died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Jan. 28 following a short illness.

The son of Edward S. and Jennie Lahmon Armstrong, he was born near Tipton Sept. 1, 1913 and spent his entire life in Cedar county. He was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county and the Tipton school.

He was married to Irma L. Kroemer at Davenport, April 28, 1941. They farmed west of Tipton until late in 1974, holding a closing out sale Dec. 21. They had lived in the former Russ Willer home on 9th street since then.

He was a member of First Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, and 2 daughters, Mrs. Edward (Margaret) Ketelsen and Mrs. Richard (Linda) Gade, both of Tipton and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
