Funeral services for Clarence D. Clements, 77, were held at St. Mary church Jan. 6 with the Rev. George Snell officiating. Burial was in St. Mary cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve and Stanley Crow, Michael, Craig and Charles Williams and Matthew Goff. Honorary pallbearers were Hoyt Buttolph, Francis Mahoney, Harlan Dugger, M. L. Gesme and A. W. Kemmann. Kathy Wood was organist.

Mr. Clements died at Beverly Manor Nursing home, Iowa City, Jan. 3 following an extended illness.

The son of William D. and Louisa Jarbo Clements, he was born at Clementville, Ky. March 13, 1897 and was educated in the Clementville schools. He was married to Nancy Reed at Tipton Jan. 13, 1925.

A resident of the Tipton area for 50 years, he was a retired farmer.

A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion in Tipton for 55 years, the Tipton post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the World War I Barracks in Cedar county. He served as a fireman 2/C in the Navy during World War I.

He was a member of St. Mary church.

Mr. Clements is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, Mrs. Edith Goff, Tipton; Mrs. Dean (Helen Maxine) Crow, Oxford and Mrs. Marvin (Kathleen) Williams, Tipton; a brother, Leonard, Blisfield, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Wethington, Liberty, Ky.; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
