Funeral services for Leonard K. Hayes, 84, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Dec. 3 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park cemetery. Masonic services were held at the funeral home Dec. 2 by Cedar Lodge, AF&AM.

Pallbearers were Otis Geadelman, Donald Rosenow, Elmer Flory, Carl Frederick, Bill Fields and Harold Shelton. Mrs. Edna Eilers and Mrs. Etta Armstrong were in charge of flowers.

The son of George V. and Elizabeth McMullen Hayes, he was born at Edgerton, S.D., April 13, 1890 and was educated in the Calamus schools. He was married to Myrtle B. Miller at Clinton March 4, 1914.

Mr. Hayes lived at Calamus and Onslow before moving to Tipton in 1938. He had worked for a hardware store in Onslow and was employed by Petersen Hardware for 22 years, retiring in 1962.

He was a 50 year member of the Masonic lodge and a member of Cedar Lodge, AF&AM, Tipton. He was also a member of the Methodist church and an honorary member of the Calamus fire department.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Vivian) Luikart, Tipton; a brother, Roy, Calamus, and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and 2 sisters.
