Funeral services for Mrs. Gertie Neessen, 83, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Nov. 23 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Merlin Daugherty, A. S. Petersen, Hermann Onken, Francis Brown, Richard and David Lawson. Mrs. Sylvia Gould was organist.

Mrs. Neessen died at Cedar Manor Nov. 20 following an extended illness.

The daughter of Jacob and Wieba Meyer Geerdes, she was born at Wellsburg, Sept. 22, 1891 and was educated in the rural schools of Grundy county. She was married to Earl W. Neessen at Wellsburg June 6, 1918.

She had been a resident of Tipton for 46 years. She was a member of First Methodist church, Tipton.

Mrs. Neessen is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Lawson, Springfield, Ill., and Mrs. Arthur (Frances) Dickinson, Boulder, Colo., and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers and a sister.
