July 25, 1974 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Selma Esbaum July 20 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, with the Rev. Emil Burrichter officiating. Burial was in Inland Cemetery.

Mrs. Esbaum, 67, Wheatland, died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, July 17.

Selma Wendt was born Aug. 31, 1906 at Clarence. She was the daughter of Louis and Caroline Rixe Wendt.

She married Henry Esbaum in Davenport Jan. 17, 1928. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. George (Alice) Rekemeyer, DeWitt and Mrs. Edward (Donna) Harrell, Rossville, Ga.; 3 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alma Boedeker and Mrs. Marvin McCroskey, both of Tipton; 5 brothers Hugo Wendt, Clarence; Ernest Wendt, Stanwood; Herman Wendt, Mechanicsville and Harry Wendt and Raymond Wendt, both of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister and a son.
