Funeral services for Francis Kessler, 69, were held at St. Bernadette's church, West Branch, March 28, with the Rev. George Bachman officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Kessler died at an Iowa City nursing home March 26.

The son of Frank and Mary Maher Kessler, he was born near Nolan settlement April 17, 1903. He was married to Hilda Bartlett at Solon Dec. 28, 1927. He was a member of St. Bernadette's church.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Howard (Pauline) Shapcott, Iowa City and Mrs. Richard (Rachel) Walton, Moorestown, N.J.; a son, Ralph, Dubuque; 4 brothers, Alois, Mike and John, all of West Branch and Joe, Solon; 2 sisters, Mrs. May Donohoe, Solon and Mrs. Bridget Irving, Iowa City and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
