Final rites for Charles Henry Northrop, 88, San Diego, Calif., were held at First United Methodist church May 19, with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mrs. Donald Parker, vocalist.

Pallbearers were James Moore, Walter Kier, Charles Gibbons, Dr. W. J. Kopsa, Ralph Wingert and Max Werling. Mrs. Russell Chapman and Mrs. Ralph Winslow were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Northrop died at San Diego May 14, following a long illness.

The son of Henry Clay and Frances Ellen Northrop, he was born at Lowden June 3, 1881 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was married to Martha Friday at Cedar Rapids Nov. 24, 1915.

A retired stationmaster and telegrapher for the Chicago North Western railroad, he was a former Tipton resident. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Mr. Northrop is survived by his wife; a son, Arnold, San Diego; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a niece. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
