Marine Major General Arnold W. Jacobsen, 77, former Wilton resident, died in Olympia, Wash. March 23.

Born May 9, 1892 at Walnut, Iowa, he was the son of C. H. and Celeste Jacobsen of Wilton. He was graduated from Wilton High school in 1910 and from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., in 1916.

General Jacobsen served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 30 years before his retirement. Among his awards were the Silver star; the Haitian Order of Honor and Merit; the Second Division citation (World War I); and the Legion of Merit with citation (World War II).

He is survived by 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
