Funeral services for Melvin H. Mowry, 75, of Massillon were held June 22 at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Paul Jordan officiating. Mrs. Don Breneman was organist and hymns were sung by the Muhs brothers.

Pallbearers were Elwood Bunge, Lloyd Hamdorf, Glenn Skinner, Edward Sterk, Joseph Seng and Lyle Raiber.

Mr. Mowry died June 20 at Mercy hospital, Davenport, after suffering a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time. He was born April 3, 1895 in Cedar county to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mowry. He was married to Elsie Steffens in Tipton Dec. 20, 1916. Active in community work, he was a former assessor of Massillon township, a school director, secretary and treasurer of Massillon Cemetery board and was the director at the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow; a son, Virgil, Lost Nation; 2 daughters, Mrs. Edward (Vivian) Seng, Maquoketa, and Mrs. Vonee Proesch, Stanwood; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
