Last rites for Raymond Ralph Maurer, 68, retired Tipton businessman, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home June 13, with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harlan Dugger, Carlton Holden, L. D. Suchomel, Steve Yetter, A. E. Rumble and W. A. Hobstetter. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mrs. H. J. Harris and Mrs. Jack Spear were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Maurer died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, June 11, following an extended illness.

The son of William and Margaret Dodt Maurer, he was born at Cedar Valley Feb. 16, 1902 and was educated in the Tipton schools. He was married to Alice Hobstetter June 15, 1927 at Tipton. He owned and operated Maurer Appliance in Tipton for more than 40 years and was a life-time resident of the Tipton area.

He was a member of First United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Charles R. Maurer, who returned from Vietnam where he was serving as a captain in the dental corps; 2 brothers, Guy, Tipton and George, Pine Bluff, Ark. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother.
