19 March 1970 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Archie Ray Yerington, 75, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home March 14 with the Rev. James Lusher officiating. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.

Pallbearers were Warren and David Lovell, Dwaine Baker, Al Wagner and John and James Yerington. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wood and Mrs. Elsie Stiff were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Donald Stiff was organist.

Mr. Yerington died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, March 12, following a short illness.

The son of Daniel Webster and Nina Osborn Yerington, he was born near Rochester Aug. 4, 1894 and was educated in the Rochester school. He was married to Zella Figgins Jan. 5, 1916. She preceded him in death in 1961. He was married to Ethel Lovell June 1, 1961.

A lifetime resident of the Rochester area, he farmed and later operated a store in Rochester.

He is survived by his wife, 4 sons, Howard, Muscatine; Harry, Tipton; Charles, Davenport and Donald, Sao Paulo, Brazil; 2 daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mildred) Witmer, and Mrs. Keith (Janet) Hamiel, both of Tipton; 3 stepsons, Frank and William Lovell, Rochester and Kenneth Lovell, West Branch; a brother, Charles, Muscatine and 4 sisters, Mrs. Sadie Burrows, Muscatine; Mrs. Loyd White, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ted Morton, Iowa City and Mrs. Merle Sterner, Wilton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, a son, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
