Final rites for Mrs. Ella Viola Emrick, 89, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Feb. 23 with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Woodbridge cemetery at Buchanan.

Pallbearers were Michael and Stanley Chadwell, Harry Grubb, Richard Ramsey, Larry Graves and Charles Balser, all grandsons. George Thordsen was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford, organist.

Mrs. Emrick died at the Clarence nursing home Feb. 20.

The daughter of Charles Alexander and Emma (Paxson) Maurer, she was born at Cedar Bluff July 23, 1880 and attended the schools of Cedar Bluff and Tipton. She was married to Frank Ward Emrick at Cedar Rapids May 3, 1905.

She lived in Tipton, Buchanan and lately, in Monticello. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by 2 sons, Orville, Muscatine and Everett, Ashland, N.J., 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Esther) Kirchner, Clarence; Mrs. Gene (Naomi) Chadwell, Monticello; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Grace Bonney and Mrs. Maude Thomas, both of Portland, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers and an infant grandson.
