Final rites for Waldo C. Horn, 74, Durant, were held at the Frick funeral home in Durant with the Rev. L. Jack Ehlers officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery with graveside services by the Durant Legion.

Mr. Horn died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, Feb. 15, following a short illness.

Waldo Horn was born Oct. 26, 1895 near Sunbury, the son of Henry and Margaret Horn. He had resided in Durant for 46 years.

He married the former Ida Bannich, Feb. 20, 1924 in Davenport. He was a past chief of the Durant Volunteer Fire Department; a veteran of World War I, charter member of the Durant American Legion; and had operated Horn Brothers Coal and Delivery business. He was later engaged in trucking until his retirement 10 years ago.

Survivors are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, and 2 brothers.
