Funeral services for Charles William Busch, 76, Mt. Vernon, were held at the United Methodist church in Mt. Vernon Jan. 6 with the Rev. Charles Q. Wallace officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mechanicsville. Graveside services were by the Busch-Dennis post of the American Legion.

Pallbearers were Claire and Laurence Stabenow, John Scott, Pierre Ferguson, Leo Youngblutt and Harry E. Dorcas.

Mr. Busch died at his home Jan. 3 following a long illness. He had a stroke several years ago.

The son of Hans and Mary Huhn Busch, he was born Aug. 30, 1891 in Cedar county and was educated in the rural schools. He lived in the Mechanicsville-Lisbon area all of his life until moving to Mt. Vernon 5 years ago. He was a farmer.

He was married to Zilla Gunn Dec 17, 1919 at the Gunn home east of Mechanicsville.

He was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of the Mechanicsville Legion.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Carl Thomas, Blairstown, and Arthur Nelson, Omaha, Nebr.; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Helen) Conley, Mt. Vernon; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Freeman, Bountstown, Fla.; a niece Louise Freeman and 8 grandchildren.
