Robert Chase, 73, a nephew of Mrs. Ray Potter died Jan. 9 at Conrad. Funeral services and burial was at Conrad Jan. 13. Chase graduated from Tipton high school and spent most of his life in Cedar county.

5 February 1970 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Robert M. Chase, 73, a former resident of Tipton, were held Jan. 13 at Conrad with Masonic rites. Mr. Chase died Jan. 8, following a heart attack, at Sherman Oaks, Calif. where he was spending the winter with his sister, Mrs. Marjorie Maroney.

He was born in Oklahoma in 1896 and came to Tipton with his parents when he was a young child. He attended the Tipton schools, graduating in 1916. For many years he worked for The Tipton Advertiser and farmed the Ripley farm near Rochester.

Later he moved to Ames and he worked there and in Des Moines, where he was employed by the American Lithographing Company for 23 years. He was married to Roma Clifford at Conrad. She died in 1963.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Lions club of Conrad. He is survived by a brother, Howard, Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister and 2 aunts, Mrs. Elizabeth Burroughs, Ames and Mrs. Ray Potter, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his wife and brother, Orlo.
