Last rites for Mrs. Cora Jeanette Ailey, 78, were held March 19 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Vernon Beckman, William Driscoll, Marvin Mallie, George Worsham, Parker Burroughs and Horace Walton. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Driscoll and Mrs. Marvin Mallie were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Ailey died unexpectedly in her home Sunday morning, March 16.

The daughter of Charles and Martha Perry, she was born at Ashland, Ill. June 23, 1890 and was educated in the rural schools of Cass county, Illinois. She was married to Luther J. Ailey Feb. 23, 1914 at Jacksonville, Ill.

A resident of the Tipton area for a half century, she had lived in Tipton since 1956. She was a member of the First Methodist church.

She is survived by 5 sons: Paul, Houston, Texas; Harry, Brownwood, Texas; Melvin, Richmond, Calif.; DeWayne, Tipton and Raymond, Scott air base, St. Louis, Mo. and a daughter, Mrs. Frances Brumley, San Antonia, Texas, 7 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967, and by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
