Funeral services for Alvin Anderson, 70, West Branch, were held at the West Branch Methodist church Oct. 17 with burial in the West Branch cemetery. The Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiated.

Mr. Anderson died Oct. 13 at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, following a short illness.

Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 23, 1898, near West Branch, the son of Peter and Sina Madsen Anderson. He was graduated from West Branch High School in 1919 and married Elizabeth Ervin in 1924. She died in 1929. He married Clara Stroppel Feb. 21, 1935.

He was a member of the West Branch Board of Education, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and United Methodist church. He also was township clerk at West Branch.

Surviving are his widow; 2 sons, James E., rural West Liberty and Kenneth A., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 3 brothers, Edward, Harley and William, all of West Branch; 2 sisters, Mrs. Gina Pedersen of West Branch and Mrs. Mildred Ervin, Vinton, and 11 grandchildren.
