Last rites for Caroline (Carrie) Williams, 75, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (July 18) at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers are Max and Dale Phelps, Lee, Lyle and Norman McQuillen and Harold Wehde. Mrs. Max Phelps is organist and Mr. and Mrs. John Hipple and Mr. and Mrs. Don Marion are in charge of flowers.

Rebekah services will follow the funeral service at the funeral home.

Miss Williams died July 15 at University hospitals, Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of Sherman T. and Emma Schell Williams, she was born Jan. 29, 1893 at Tipton and graduated from Tipton high school and attended Iowa State Teachers College.

After teaching in the rural Tipton schools she was a sales clerk at Cook Dry Goods for several years.

A lifetime Tipton resident, she was Past Grand Noble of the Rebekahs, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the First Methodist church and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She also taught the Berean Sunday school class in the Methodist church.

She is survived by a brother, Verner, a niece, Mrs. Gene (Delores) Phelps and 2 grandnieces, Denni and Traci Phelps and a grandnephew, Randy Phelps, all of Tipton.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a nephew.
