Final rites for Mrs. Martha B. Maxson, 89, a long-time resident of West Branch, were held Oct. 7 at the West Branch Methodist church. The Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiated, along with the Rev. LeRoy Bauman, former pastor of the church. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Maxson died Oct. 4 at a West Branch nursing home following a long illness.

Mrs. Maxson was born Oct. 24, 1877, at Chesterhill, Ohio, daughter of Joseph and Mary Bye Fawcett. In 1881 she came to Springdale with her family. She graduated from high school there in 1896.

She was married to Willard S. Maxson Sept. 1, 1898.

A member of the Methodist church, she was active in the W.S.C.S. and the Priscilla club of West Branch. April 19, 1962, she was made an honorary life member of the West Branch National Honor society at West Branch High school.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Boatman, West Branch; a brother, Carlos J. Fawcett, Boston; and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Pearson, West Branch.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966.
