Funeral services for W. Channing Hall, 79, Tipton will be today, June 29, at the Dye Funeral home at 2 p.m., with interment in the Columbus City cemetery at Columbus City. The Rev. I. S. Hayenga will conduct services with Mrs. Irma Crawford organist.
Mr. Hall died June 26 at Veterans' hospital, Iowa City, following a long illness. He was born Jan. 24, 1888, son of Walter F. and Octavia Brown Hall, at Columbus Junction and attended high school there. He was married to Evelyn Sprague Dec. 20, 1924 in Monmouth, Ill. The Halls lived in Columbus Junction until coming to Tipton in 1935. He was a bank cashier and insurance salesman.
Survivors include his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Harold (Patricia) Wright, Ames; Mrs. Henry (Constance) Mohr, Santa Maria, Calif.; 2 sons, Channing, Greenfield; Sprague, Tipton; 9 grandchildren and a brother, Hamlet C. Hall, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion, for many years on the Boy Scout Council, a 50-year Mason and Shriner and a Post Master. There will be Masonic graveside services. Pallbearers are Sam Rumble, H. J. Harris, R. R. Werling, Henry Fields, Reno Droll and Walker Rumble.
The family requests that memorial go to the United Church of Christ of which Mr. Hall was a member.
