Last rites for Thomas M. Davis, 79, a lifelong resident of the West Branch area, will be held at 2 p.m. today (June 15) in Friends church, West Branch. The Rev. James Thompson and Mrs. Irma Guthrie will officiate. Burial will be in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Davis died June 12 at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, following a 2-month illness.

Mr. Davis was born Dec. 30, 1887, at Sophia, N.C., the son of Cyrus and Cinderella Farlow Davis. He was married in West Branch to Luella Branson on Dec. 23, 1914.

He farmed near West Branch until his retirement in 1950 and was a member of the West Branch Friends church.

Surviving are his widow; a son, Howard, West Liberty; 3 daughters, Mrs. Thelma Johnston, Wyoming, Mrs. Helen Holland, Fond du Lac, Wis. and Mrs. Belva Vincent, West Branch; 2 brothers and a sister, all of North Carolina and 15 grandchildren.
