Funeral services for George Heinrich Claus Rekemeyer, 82, retired Bennett area farmer, were held at 1:30 p.m. May 29 at Peace United Church of Christ, Bennett.
The son of Henry K. and Johanna Struck Rekemeyer, he was born at Mechanicsville Feb. 8, 1885 and was educated in the rural schools of Inland township. He was married to Frances Beuthien in Tipton Feb. 10, 1909. She died in 1965.
The Rev. Robert Ahrendt officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Riedesel Jr. were vocalists and Mrs. Riedesel was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Proesch were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Inland cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elmer Geadelmann, Roger Beuthien, Norman Burmiester, Elmer Horman, Fred Rekemeyer Jr. and Harlan Rekemeyer.
They farmed near Bennett until 1948 when they retired and moved to Tipton.
He is survived by a son, George Jr., Bennett; 2 daughters, Berniece Rekemeyer, Tipton and Mrs. Walter (Alma) Conrad, Clarence, 3 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Eda Geadelmann, Clarence and Mrs. Mary Williams, Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife and 4 brothers.
