Mrs. Emma A. Knott, 90, a native of Tipton, died April 18 at Windom, Minn. Services were held April 21 at Jeffers.
The daughter of Harlo and Anna Kinsinger Tuttle, she was born May 29, 1876, near Tipton, one of a family of 5 children. The Tuttle family moved to Davenport, living there for several years and then returning to Tipton.
Oct. 5, 1898 she was married to John Knott. They were the parents of 11 children.
In 1929 the Knott family moved to Jeffers, Minn. where they operated a restaurant until Mr. Knott died in 1932. Mrs. Knott continued to make her home in Jeffers until 4 years ago when she entered the Sagge Memorial home in Windom.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge since 1912, serving as recorder for 22 years and as oracle since 1935.
She is survived by 5 sons and 4 daughters: Mrs. Harry (Enid) Carter, Jeffers, Minn.; Joseph A., Newton; George, Humboldt, Ill.; Howard, Granite Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Amasa (Catherine) Rand, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Earl (Rhoda) Barker, Atwater, Minn.; Mrs. Julius (Edna) Messenbrink, Grove City, Minn.; Woodrow, Wilmer, Minn.; James, Rodeo, Calif; 37 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and a brother, Sam Tuttle, Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, her husband, 3 sisters and a brother.
