EILERS, ESCHER, MILLER, BUTTERBRODT

Services for Fred Henry Eilers, 73, retired farmer, were held May 1 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter, Harold and Merle Eilers, Milo Agne, Forest Willer Jr. and Dale Miller. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Dr. Chet Christianson vocalist. Mr. and Mrs. Don Armstrong Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Forest Rhoads were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Eilers died April 28 at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn. He had undergone surgery at the hospital earlier in April and was about to return to his home in Tipton when he suffered a stroke from which he never recovered.

The son of Fred and Alma E. (Meiners) Eilers, he was born at Lowden Dec. 20, 1893 and was educated in the rural schools of the county.

He was married to Edna J. Escher Dec. 22, 1915 at Tipton. He farmed for many years, retiring in 1946 when he and Mrs. Eilers moved to Tipton.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Raymond, Mechanicsville; a brother, August Eilers, Tipton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Freida Miller, Clarence and Mrs. Anna Butterbrodt, Tipton, 2 grandchildren and several neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister.
