Last rites were held April 21 at Durant for Mrs. Katie M. Belter, 74. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Belter died April 18 at Mercy hospital, Davenport, following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1893, near Blue Grass, the daughter of Johannes and Laura Voss; and had been a resident of the Durant area for the past 25 years.

She married Henry Belter, Jan. 2, 1918 at Davenport. Mrs. Belter was past president of the Durant American Legion Auxiliary. She and her husband farmed near Bennett until 1942.

Survivors include 2 sons, Henry H., Route 3, Muscatine and Loren R., Bennett; a brother, William, Tipton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Mollie) Schnoor and Mrs. Walter (Teresa) Puck, Davenport; 4 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
