Mrs. Eva Phelps, 95, lifelong resident of the West Branch area, died early June 17 in a West Branch nursing home following an extended illness.

Funeral services were June 19 at the Springdale Methodist church, with Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial was in the West Branch Cemetery.

The former Eva Fitzsimmons was born March 24, 1871, at Grandview, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Hubbard Fitzsimmons. She was married Sept. 10, 1890, at Muscatine to W. C. Phelps, who died in 1950.

Mrs. Phelps was a member of the Springdale Methodist church and the Self Culture Club.

Surviving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Edith Anderson and Mrs. Mabel Rummells, both of West Branch, and Mrs. Lela Stoecker, Tampa, Fla.; 2 sons, Vernon, Oasis and Charles, Sigourney; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
