Funeral services for Mrs. Clyde (Hazel) D. Winter, 68, were held June 10 at Muscatine with the Rev. T. Ray Crews of West Branch officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery at Muscatine.

Mrs. Winter died June 8 at the Crestview Nursing home at West Branch of an extended illness.

Born the daughter of Frank and Harriett Whisler Kuder on Feb. 10, 1898 in Louisa county, she was a resident near West Branch for 13 years and a former resident of Tipton.

She married John Schmelzer. Upon his death she married Clyde N. Winter Feb. 28, 1937 in Clinton. She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Virgil Schmelzer and Lester Schmelzer, Muscatine and Francis Schmelzer, Palo Alto, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Al (Josephine) Helzer, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Guy Kuder, New Boston and Leonard Kuder, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Stephen (Fannie) Drahos, Grandview; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.
