9 June 1966 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services were held June 5 for John William Frederick 69, at the Sheets and Son Funeral home. Burial was in Shawver cemetery at Cedar Bluff.

Pallbearers were Calvin Moore, George Mueller, Chancy Moore, Leland Blake, Ed Liercke and Hebert Richards. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mrs. Ed Liercke and Mrs. Leland Blake were in charge of flowers. Full military rites were held at the graveside by the Gary Whalen post of the American Legion.

Mr. Frederick died June 2 at Veterans hospital, Iowa City.

The son of William and Grace Keller Frederick, he was born Aug. 5, 1896 at Cedar Bluff and attended the rural schools of that area. He was married to Marie Evelyn Kinnan at Marion Dec. 2, 1922.

A veteran of World War I, he served as a private with the 129th Base hospital. He was a member of the World War I barracks.

A retired construction worker, he was a lifetime resident of the Cedar Bluff-Tipton area.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Melvin and Lyle, Tipton and Rhea Alan, in the air force at McConnell air base, Wichita, Kans.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Grant Armstrong, Mechanicsville and Mrs. Eldon Dietz, Tipton; 9 grandchildren, a brother, Claire, Iowa City, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Meaker, Tipton.
