David Franklin Gaylor, 84, a retired West Branch carpenter, died early May 15 in a West Branch nursing home following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 24, 1881, in Kerrs Creek, Va., and was married in 1907 to the former Sallie C. Hayslett in Virginia. They came to West Branch in 1912.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Lawrence, Phoenix, Ariz.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Albertus Swails, West Branch and Laverna O. Riffey, Cedar Rapids; 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 17 at 2 p.m. in the West Branch Methodist church.
