John Leese, 93, of Durant died May 16 at the Wilton nursing home, following an extended illness. The son of William and Doris Leese, he was born Feb. 11, 1873 in Cedar county.

He married Caroline Sebelien on May 9, 1894. The couple farmed in Cedar county until his retirement in 1927.

Survivors include a son, Leonard, Durant; 3 daughters, Mrs. Johannes (Minnie) Jurgens and Mrs. Harry (Lena) Bailey of Davenport and Mrs. Frank (Ella) Feldhahn, Durant; a sister, Mrs. Laura Triess, Davenport; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 sons.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, at 1:30 at the Frick funeral home in Durant. Interment will be at the Durant cemetery.
