Mrs. Frank (Carrie Elizabeth) Townsend, 74, of Wilton Junction, died April 6 at the Wilton nursing home following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of Fred E. and Rose Freyermuth Kauffman, she was born Jan. 16, 1892 in Cedar county. She married Frank Townsend on April 7, 1915 in Cedar county. He survives.

Other survivors include 2 sons, Fred, Tipton and Herbert, Wilton Junction; a daughter, Mrs. Merle (Mildred) Glenney, Wilton Junction; two brothers, Harry Kauffman and Walter Kauffman, both of Wilton Junction; a sister, Mrs. Elwood (Pearl) Hein, Wilton Junction; and 9 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held April 9 in Wilton Junction with Rev. Homer Perry of the United Churches of Christ officiating.

Interment was at the Oakdale cemetery in Wilton Junction.
