Funeral services for Amos J. Suchomel, 78, were held April 4 at St. Bridget's church, Solon, with burial in St. Bridget's cemetery. The rosary was recited at 8 p.m. April 3.

Mr. Suchomel died April 1 at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, where he had been a patient for a short time. He had been in ill health for several years.

The son of Catherine and Dominic Suchomel, he was born in Cedar county Sept. 25, 1887. He was married to Blanche Krupna April 2, 1913. She died in 1960.

Mr. Suchomel had a wide interest in agriculture and politics. He served as trustee for Cass township for many years and was a director of the Tipton State bank until 1964.

He served as supervisor of Cedar county from April 5 to June 3, 1938, representing the old third district. He was appointed by the county auditor, treasurer and clerk of court after District Court Judge Charles Hass suspended 4 members of the board of supervisors. He served until the old board was reinstated by the court.

He is survived by 5 daughters, Lillian, Cedar Bluff; Mrs. Charles (Irene) Gibbons, Tipton; Mrs. Maxwell (Marcella) Netolicky, Solon; Mrs. Donald (Mary Jean) Johnson, West Branch; Mrs. Eugene (Betty) Compton, Durant and Mrs. William (Marlene) Zearing, Mechanicsville; 2 sons, William D. and Robert J., both of Solon; 3 sisters, Mrs. George Chalupsky and Mrs. Anna Boxa, both of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Mary Benda of Iowa City; a brother, Jerry, of Iowa City and 33 grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Mr. Suchomel was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
