Barbara Ellen (Birch) Wallace, 84, of Tipton, entered eternity after losing her battle with cancer, on January 1, 2021 while under the care of the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center in Mechanicsville. Visitation will be held at Fry Funeral Home, on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, officiated by Pastor Alan Abrahamson. Cremation will follow the funeral and private burial will be held at the Red Oak Cemetery, Stanwood, Iowa, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Barbara, daughter of Leo and Leona (Waters) Birch was born on Thursday, November 12, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa. Barb attended schools in Dubuque and on November 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to William Franklin Wallace in Dubuque.
They moved to Tipton in 1973, where Barb raised her eight children. Barb and Bill were members of the Tipton Bible Church and Barb helped with the Tipton Bible School. Barb was a woman that loved to dance and had a strong faith. She was best known for her banana bread, apple bread, apple butter and her goulash.

Barb is survived by her children, Michael, Billy, Robert (Vicki), Deb, Merlin (Penne), David (Linda), Cynthia (Robert) and Kevin (Tracee); sisters, Theresa Brimmer of East Dubuque, Sylvia Hitzler of Dubuque, Elaine Harry of Dubuque, Ellen Hitzler of Dubuque; brothers, Allan “Bob” Birch of Dubuque, David Birch of Dubuque, Burton “Birdie” Birch of California, Jerry Birch of Dubuque; 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Leona Wallace, husband William Wallace; son, Colin Thomas; sisters, Darlene Pendley, Velma Kammerude, Shirley Birch, Shelba Jean Birch, Jeannie “Judy” Hitzler and Leona “Tiny” Scott; brother, Leo Birch Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Travis and Tracy; and great-grandchild, Wyatt.
