Edma M. Sweinhart, 80, a native of Tipton, died Feb. 26 in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services were held March 1 at Sioux City with burial there.
Miss Sweinhart was the daughter of Peter Frank Sweinhart, pioneer Sioux City real estate man. She went to Sioux City as a child but returned to Tipton after the death of her mother and was reared by an aunt for several years before returning to Sioux City.
She was a graduate of Coe College and Boston University. She taught in the Sioux City school system and managed her father's real estate business after he became ill.
She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the First Presbyterian church in Sioux City, the Knife and Fork club and the Travelers club.
She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Anna Sweinhart Peterson, Cornwall, Conn.
