Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian M. Whitmer, 73, Wilton Junction, were held March 5 at Wilton Junction with the Rev. Martin L. Whitmer officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale cemetery at Wilton Junction.

Mrs. Whitmer died March 2 at the Wilton nursing home following a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of the nursing home for 3 years.

The daughter of James M. and Alice Shollet Shadle, she was born March 12, 1892 in Cedar county.

She married Howard H. Whitmer Nov. 26, 1913 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1948.

Survivors include 8 children; Moses M. Whitmer, Durant; Herbert L., Wilton Junction; Hilbert L. and Harold W., both of Tipton; James S., Brooksville, Fla.; Donald E., Bettendorf; Mrs. Freeman (Ruby) Kaufman, Wilton Junction, and Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Beaver, West Liberty; a brother, Frank Shadle of Hamilton, Mo. and a sister, Mrs. Harry (Bess) Schneider of Wilton Junction; 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
