October 21, 1965 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Thurston, 57, were held Oct. 16 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Pallbearers were Richard, Kenneth, Leland and Charles Wagner, Henry Wiskus and Daniel Thurston. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mrs. Thorvald Thomsen and Mrs. Norman Hansen were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Thurston died at the Thurston Custodial home Oct. 13, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of Wesley William and Margaret Alice Gaines Wagner, she was born Feb. 1, 1908 at Aitkin, Minn. She was educated in the rural Cedar county schools.

She was married to James Herbert Thurston July 8, 1925, at Red Oak. She operated a nursing home in Tipton for 25 years and was a resident of the Tipton area most of her life.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the V.F.W. auxiliary.

She is survived by 6 sons, Earl, Tipton; Fred, Wilton Junction; Robert, Springville; Albert, Sidney; Thomas, Davenport, and Marvin, Clarence; 3 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Boneta) Moffit, Stanwood; Mrs. Herman (Peggy) Foxworth, Gantt, Ala., and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Cozad, Tipton.

Also 2 brothers, Floyd Wagner, Coon Rapids and Ernest Wagner, Tipton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Leona Thurston, Tipton; Mrs. Floyd (Verna) Winekauf, Tipton and Mrs. Henry (Eunice) Wiskus, Tipton; and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 8 brothers and a son.
