Funeral services were held in the West Branch Methodist church Oct. 4 for Miss Grace E. Evans, 78, who died Oct. 1 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiated. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Miss Evans was born Feb. 2, 1887, near Iowa City, the daughter of Thomas and Julia Sponey Evans. She was graduated from West Branch High School and Winona, Minn. Teachers college.

She taught school many years in Johnson county and later at Rochester, Minn. She was a member of the West Branch Methodist church.

Survivors include 2 nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Some of the relatives and friends who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Evans, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Evans, Springfield, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Michel, Tiffin, Cora Michel, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Rodgers and 2 children, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. John Werle and daughter, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Elliott, Oxford and Mrs. Slaymaker, Iowa City.
