Funeral services for Mrs. Florence R. Wharton, 73, were held July 14 at the Sheets and Son funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. Eugene Miller in charge. Pallbearers were Hoyt Buttolph, Walter Schneckloth, Raymond Jepsen, Elmer Untiedt, Ernest Riedesel, Jr., and John Mueller. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Mrs. Omer Wright and Mrs. Dale Robbins were in charge of flowers. The American Legion Auxiliary was in charge of graveside services at Inland cemetery.

Mrs. Wharton died July 11 at the Masonic sanitarium at Bettendorf after a lingering illness.

The daughter of Charles and Nell Roberdee Treadwell, she was born Jan. 13, 1892, at Bennett and attended the rural schools near Bennett. She was married to Andrew F. Wharton at the Methodist church in Bennett April 2, 1907. She was a member of the Bennett Methodist church and the American Legion Auxiliary at Bennett.

Mrs. Wharton lived in Davenport for 25 years, after moving from a farm near Bennett.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Helen) McQuillen, Tipton, and Mrs. Ray (Nell) Musselman, Davenport; 2 sons, Clarence, Milo, Maine, and Wayne, Davenport; 2 brothers, John Templeton, San Diego, Calif., and Jack Treadwell, Bennett; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Elizabeth) Rank, Des Moines, 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband several weeks ago.
